auf besonderen Wunsch habe ich heute in Skukuza wegen der Möglichkeit zum PCR Test nachgefragt:
Die gibt es in der medizinischen Station hier im Camp (siehe Skizze). Über die Kosten konnte man mir leider keine Auskunft geben. Da müsste ich morgen früh den Doktor selbst fragen.
Der PCR-Test ist ein 24 Std. Test und kostet 1.250 ZAR.

Eine PCT-Test Vorbuchung war mir heute problemlos per Email an den Skukuza doc möglich: dlminc.skukuza(at)gmail.com Die Bezahlung erfolgt ausschließlich in bar vor Probeentnahme.

Nur dass ich richtig gelesen habe, die Test sind vor Eintritt zum Kruger NP für Tagesgäste bis 15.Januar notwendig ?

Nein, fuer die Einfahrt in den Kruger ist kein Test notwendig. Der Test in Skukuza ist fuer diejenigen, die vom Kruger aus wieder nachhause (ins Ausland) fliegen wollen.

Maddy war schneller 😉 Nein Peter, für Leute die sie für den Heimflug oder Weiterreise in ein anderes Land brauchen. Der Zutritt zum KNP erfordert keinerlei Test.

Staff members at Letaba and Olifants as well as the fire and rescue team from Phalaborwa managed to contain the fire before it could spread to other structures linked to the shop building, but the shop and staff television room could not be saved.
Reacting to the news, the Managing Executive of KNP, Gareth Coleman said "we are grateful that no life was lost and no staff nor visitors sustained any injuries. We also extend our gratitude to the staff and emergency services team who contained the fire and prevented it from spreading to other structures".
Guests who have bookings at Letaba must for now bring own basic necessities until such time that a temporary shop has been set up. The cause of the fire is still being investigated and an update will be provided in due course.

Die für den KNP wesentlichsten Dinge scheinen wohl zu sein Bootstouren auf dem Pioneer Dam (Mopani), Bau von Underground Hides für Fotografen und die Entwicklung eines Spa-Konzepts für die Camps im Norden.

Shando was based at Shangoni Section and was tragically killed in a confrontation with a buffalo whilst on duty. Dlamini extended condolences to the Mathebula family, friend associates and fellow workers while paying tribute to the fallen Ranger “very few people have the courage and necessary skills to perform the important undertaking other than Rangers, in which Shando was and will forever be part of. His dedication was influenced by the need to promote the principles of Conservation and making sure that our fauna and flora are protected. He will rank amongst Rangers who have passed on whilst serving the people of South Africa, protecting the environment, and what the organisation stands for. 11 Elefantenbullen, ein Ziel, der KNP
Seit 7. Mai berichtet Elephants Alive über die unglaubliche Wanderung von 11 Elefantenbullen, die bisher bereits über 700 km durch Mosambik, eSwatini, und Südafrika zurückgelegt haben, um ihre vermutlich ursprüngliche Heimat, den KNP zu erreichen. Der, die Gruppe anführende Bulle, trägt ein Senderhalsband, das es erlaubt, die Reise der Gruppe zu verfolgen. Gestern ist er an der Parkgrenze angekommen, und nun auf der Suche nach einer Öffnung im Zaun. The Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA) in partnership with SANParks, today successfully captured and relocated five of the eleven elephants that were roaming the Madadeni area in the Nkomazi region on Saturday, 7 May 2022. The elephants entered South Africa from Swaziland after having moved from Mozambique.
The elephants have been released in the Shingwedzi Section North of the Kruger National Park. This operation was successfully conducted with the assistance of the SANParks Veterinary Wildlife Services (Game Capture) operations team and Ranger Services. This saw the provision of their Fixed Wing and Helicopter for Air Wing Support, Game Capture trucks, Loading Ramps, and all the other necessary resources required to ensure a safe and successful Game Capture operation.
The operation was conducted in a safe and secure manner under the authority of the MTPA to ensure that the elephants were captured in a safe manner and were not a threat to human life.
"We are grateful for the assistance received from the SANParks management and the KNP Ranger Services. The collaboration between the two conservation authorities made this operation a success. We are delighted that the elephants are safe and have been captured and relocated safely. Our Wildlife Management team will continue to monitor the situation on the ground and look out for the remaining elephants that are believed to be with the breeding herds", said Mduduzi Vilakazi, Acting CEO of the MTPA.
The Managing Executive of the KNP, Gareth Coleman commended everyone who was involved in the operation "this was a difficult and stressful operation, but we are happy at the turn of events and that the animals have been relocated and to a safe area away from communities. We urge communities to alert officials when they observe animals outside the protected areas to stay away from these animals and allow conservation authorities the space to carry out their duties unhindered for the safety of both animals and humans", concluded Coleman.
Since the elephants made their way to Mpumalanga, a number of people have been following their journey and there has been an appeal to ensure their safe passage back to Mozambique.
