The legal team of HE Prez Zuma has just delivered his application for leave to appeal in terms of section 17 of the Superior Courts Act on the grounds that the judgment is clearly wrong & there are strong prospects that a higher court will come to a totally different conclusion.

Das ist jetzt schon wirklich deftige Ironie der Geschichte:
Putin kann/kommt nicht nach Südafrika wegen Gefahr von Verhaftung und Auslieferung an den ICC.
Dagegen entzieht sich sein dicker Freund Zuma seiner Wiedereinweisung ins Gefängnis zur Weiterverbüßung durch Flucht –sprich medizinische Behandlung- nach Russland, mit welchem es keine Auslieferungsvereinbarung gibt. Es gab auch das Gerücht, dass er schon nach China weitergezogen sei.
Die Seufzer der Erleichterung für beides in RSA hat man bis hierher gehört aber ausgestanden ist Letzteres mE nicht. Denn irgendwann wird der Rechtsstaat in RSA in der Sache wieder aktiv werden und die Auslieferung von Zuma (wo immer) beantragen müssen. Dabei wird man sich mit einem russischen oder chinesischen Bescheid für Haftunfähigkeit nicht aus der Affäre ziehen können.
