Betrifft uns zwar aktuell nicht, aber gibt es eine Alternative, wie man vom Kruger NP zum Flughafen Kruger Mpumalanga International kommt?

1. Möglichkeit:
Phabeni gate, R40 bis White River, und erst das letzte Stück auf der R538 zum Flughafen.

2. Möglichkeit:
Malelane gate, N4, und rauf wieder über die R538 zum Flughafen.

Es ist halt wirklich mühsam für die KNP-Besucher sich tagesaktuell, über die durch Proteste gesperrten Straßen,
über social media Infos einzuholen! Auf der fb SANParksKNP-Seite kommen die Meldungen leider erst sehr spät, wenn überhaupt.
Und viele fahren dann ja weiter nach S/KZN, wo es ja quasi auch fast täglich Proteste gibt, die ich hier gar nicht poste.
Andere wieder, die Richtung Joburg wollen, müssen wieder die N4 im Auge behalten...

NELSPRUIT - Police at Masoyi are investigating an incident in which a tourist was fatally shot by a group of ruthless criminals at Numbi Road near White River in the afternoon of today at around 16h30.

According to the report, at that time, four tourists from Germany were traveling in a Hyundai H1 on Numbi Road enroute to Numbi Gate at Mdluli Safari lodge. They were then stopped by three armed suspects who were driving in a VW Caddy. The suspects are said to have instructed the tourists to open the doors of their vehicle but when the driver reportedly locked all the doors, apparently one of the suspects shot him in the upper body through the window. It is further said that the victims' vehicle drove in reverse for about 100 meters before crushing into the wall of Heroes Academy. Unfortunately the driver died on the spot as a result of the shooting. The suspects reportedly sped off in their vehicle without taking anything from the tourists.

The police at Masoyi as well as other role players in the Emergency Services were alerted about the incident. A murder case was opened with an immediate launch of a manhunt for the suspects.

No one has been arrested as yet and police urge anyone with information that may assist in apprehending the perpetrators to immediately call the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111 or send information via MySAPS App. All received information will be treated as confidential and callers may opt to remain anonymous.

Meanwhile the Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has vehemently condemned the terrible atrocity carried out by the suspects. "This is really cruel and uncalled for given the economic challenges that our country is facing. When one has tourists then it means the tourism sector is benefitting in a way which in turn give boost to our struggling economy. We call on our good citizens who might have seen or heard anything about these criminals or the VW Caddy they were driving, to come forward and we promise to swiftly act so that they are brought to justice" urged the General.

wenn ich bedenke, dass ich gerade erst genau in der Gegend ein B&B gebucht habe (geplante Einfahrt über Numbi Gate) für Anfang Feb.2023 ........ 😠

muss ich wohl doch noch mal drüber nachdenken, ob Malalene ??sicherer?? ist..... 🙁

Numbi war noch nie ein guter und sicherer Zugang. Je nach Anreise ist es besser über Malelane, Phabeni oder Paul Kruger Gate reinzufahren.

Das mag sein, ändert aber nichts daran, dass SA in weiten Teilen ein failed state mit Gesetzlosigkeit ist. Zusammen mit europäischer Rezession etc. wird das für die Tourismusbranche dort übel werden, wenn sie das Steuer nicht herumreißen können.

Numbi war noch nie ein guter und sicherer Zugang. Je nach Anreise ist es besser über Malelane, Phabeni oder Paul Kruger Gate reinzufahren.

vor 5 Jahren bin ich mal (allerdings nicht über Numbi Gate ausgefahren) da durch die Orte gefahren über die R538, fand ich alles nicht so prickelnd dort unterwegs ..... 😕

Wir übernachten ja in der Nähe vom Airport, da ist es für uns an sich egal, welche Einfahrt wir nehmen, Malelane ist auch nicht nennenswert weiter weg.

Hijacking Incident Claims the Life of a German Tourist

South African National Parks (SANParks) has today extended condolences to the family and friends of the German Tourist who was fatally shot in a hijacking on the Numbi Road, en route to their lodge in the Kruger National Park (KNP).

"Our thoughts are with the family as they process this senseless and tragic loss. We are deeply saddened by the escalation of crime and violence to this terrible end, which not only threatens the lives of our visitors, but also the livelihoods of the people living around our Parks. This is a huge setback for the tourism sector and the country. We have been working with the Lowveld Business chamber and the National Department of Tourism to promote and market tourism products to our overseas customers and this latest criminal act undermines our efforts to restore the sector to pre-covid days. Tourism is a huge employer in a region with some of the highest unemployment rates in the country. We are confident that the law enforcement agencies will apprehend these heinous criminals and bring them to book," said the Spokesperson of the Kruger National Park, Mr Ike Phaahla.

Numbi road has been identified as a crime hot spot by the Tourism Sector and efforts are ongoing to counter the criminality in the area and on the road with increased security patrols and vehicle recognition cameras. SANParks is involved in those deliberations and working with the responsible authorities to try and ensure the safety of tourists on ALL roads leading to the KNP and other tourist destinations in the area.

Tourists are advised to plan their trips carefully, only make stops at designated areas such as garages and service stations, try to travel in convoys, and where possible use alternative gates. Paul Kruger and Phabeni Gates are fully operational and signposted and can be used as a gateway to other lodges around the KNP.

Zu den offiziellen Reaktionen:
Vielleicht war es ein "wake-up call". Leider müsste sich aber zu viel gleichzeitig ändern, dass es wirkt. Der Hinweis " try to travel in convoys," ist eben eine Bankrotterklärung, man hat die Zustände nicht mehr in Griff. Das ist ja wie im Caprivi vor vielen Jahren, aber das war ein Grenzgebiet mit Auswirkungen des Angola-Krieges.

Einfach mal Numbi-Gate bei Google eingeben, dann sieht man ja, wie viele Vorfälle es bereits alleine in diesem Jahr dort gegeben hat.
