Hola,
what a huge number of roads
No es así, solo parece. Namibia es mucho mas grande que Espanya. Puedes ir en coche horas y horas sin ver otro vehículo.
a large drive with the sea in one side, and the sand or gravel in the other side...
if it is possible to cross Ethosa, entering from Lindequist gate and exit trough galton gate.

Karsten

Hi KarstenB

After searching, I am seriously considering 8 nights in Ethosa, (2 in Namutoni, 2 in Halali, 2 in Okaukuejo, and the last two in Olifantsrus) as it seems to be the place to find what I am really looking for: animals...

Then from there I would consider to drive to Spitzkoope through Khorixas, Is it possible in one day??? Does anybody recomends to ad any place from Ethosa to Spitzkoope? ...

Couple of nights there ( in Spitzkoppe) and then to Walvis bay, another 2 or 3 nights. Does it make sense?? I think that Walvis Bay is less touris and more wild than Swakop...It is a good idea or not????

From Walvis Bay, the next step would be Sesriem..... lets see

I really appreciate the help provided...
many thanks for the advice

Hola,

if my memory serves me well you will be staying 3 weeks in Namibia, so 8 nights in Etosha is a good option. (Although I am not so crazy about Etosha, I am spoilt by Tanzania 😎 .) Don't forget to get your reservations for the Etosha CSs.
On your way to Spitzkoppe, you can stay 1 night west of Khorixas, there are the Petrified Forest, Burnt Mountain and Twyfelfontain Rock Paintings to see.
Yes, Walvis Bay is less touristic than Swakopmund, but that is for a very good reason - Swakop is much more interesting. So, as I said, I'd stay 3 nights at Swakop and do the tours I mentioned. (Even if they are quite expensive - 60 € pP for the "Little 5 Tour", if I remember it well -, but they are worth every cent.)
In Sesriem, you should make a reservation as well.
By the way, there is a very good website to plan your stays: Info-Namibia

Kind regards from Hamburg,

Karsten

Hi KarstenB,

Thanks for your replay. The Itinerary will be as follows:

22nd october arrived Windhoek and night there
23-25 Ethosa-Namutoni
25-27 Ethosa-Halali
27-29 Ethosa-Okaukuejo
29-31 Ethosa-Olifantrus
31-02 Spitzkoppe
02-05 Swakop
05-07 Naukluft Campsites
07-10 Sesriem
10-11 Windhoeck
11th Filght back home

I am not sure about the days 05-07 in an area between walvis bay and sesriem, the Nauklft campsites region. I have includes this place cause I have two days free... but I think it is not a good Idea cause it seems it is not a good season for visit this area. The good season is after rain season....

Other possibility is to add a place at the first step between Windhoek and Ethosa... any suggestions??

I have been searching for what you KarstenB recomended about petrified forest and Twyfelfontain Rock Paintings and I might not be interested on this places....

For sure will do the tours you recomended, but this become later, when having a route and places to sleed defined!!!

it is a pitty not to know German, this is the best info source for planning the tryp, but translation each thread is a huge job!!!!

Many thanks for your help....

Regards,
Willie

Hi Willie,

you could go to the Waterberg Plateau for 2 nights. There you will have the chance to see buffalo (there are no buffaloes in Etosha). But you have to be on a guided tour - noone is allowed at the plateau on his own. And of course, you have to pay for it. I would suggest you do some hikes in the morning (there are some nice walks there, one goes up to the edge of the cliff with spectacular views.) And in the afternoon you can do the guided tour unto the plateau.

Kind regards,

Karsten

Hi again,

I would like to have advice about Aabadi Mountain Camp. I have read in the Bradt book guide that elephants are frequent visitors, but on the other hand, I am reading some themes on this forum with negative advice on this camp.

Other place I might consider is the khorixas rest camp, Any advice both possitive or negative on this camp site??

KarstenB, I appreciate your recomendations. Many thanks.

Willie

Dear Leona,

I did book my campsites in Ethosa and also in Sesreim. at this point my itinerary is as follows:

22nd October Windohek (Urban Camp)
23-25 Namutoni (campsite Booked)
25-27 Halali (campsite Booked)
27-29 Okaukuejo (campsite booked)
29-31 Olifantrus (campsite Booked)
31-2nd November Hoada Camp Site
2-4 Spitzkoppe Camp Site
4-7 Swakop
7-10 Sesreim campsite (campsite Booked)
10 Last night windoek

Due to the budget in most places we have chosen camping. I do not know how the temperature of nights will be in this season and if we will have cold sleeping in a roof tend....

The places where we haven´t booked yet are Hoada, Spitzkoppe and Swakop. After the 8 camping nights in Ethosa, a couple of nights in a bed would be great, but I couldnt find something at a reasonable price between Olifantrus, and Spitzkoppe, Any alternative to Hoada campsite?

On the other hand, At Spitzkoppe the chalet rates seems to be afordable: N$370 per person per night, and could be an option instead camping....

But I think that the place to sleep in beds for sure is Swakop, Isn´t it? I have read that the nights there a very chilly, and the best is a bed and brekfast or so.. Any place recomended?

I dind´t decided neither the place to sleep the last night at windoek. I think that after 3 nights in sesreim campsite also a bed would be advisable... any typ??

This is where the planification of my tryp rests right now. Please keep helping me at least as good as you did!!!

Many thanks for your help!!

Hola Willie,

I recomend Veronica B$B in Swakop. Very good quality - price relationship. Close to the sea, center in walking distance.
Your trip now seems a really nice one to me.

Kind regards from Hamburg,

Karsten

Hi Willie,

Nice trip! 😎

In October the temperatures are really OK at night. You will not be frozen when you get up in the morning. 🙂

Just for your info. At the Spitzkoppe restcamp the chalets are very basic.....

Yes Swakopmund is very humid, windy and unpleasant when you camp. I suggest to book a room at the Hotel Pension Rapmund. We enjoyed it.

In Windhoek I recommend Hotel Pension Uhland.

Best wishes from France

hola Willie
In Swakopmund the cheapest roof over your head with beds bathroom kitchen with a large fridge and freezer to store your food and a place to grill your meat is at the municipal restcamp http://www.swakopmund-restcamp.com/fish.htm
It has the charme of a prison, but for independant people who do not need pampering it is a very good option.

In Windhoek I have stayed many times at centrally located Pension Steiner http://www.namibiareservations.com/steinere.html
this pension is a favorite among the german speaking public. they only serve breakfast, no dinner, but you can order in from the delivery menu form several restaurants in the neighbourhood or fetch food at the pick and pay next door and make a pic nic 😉

Dear karsten,

I had sent an email to Veronica, but no answer after a week or so... Thanks for the recommendation, I will keep triying...

I am in doubt regarding a place to stay two couple of nights. After 8 camping days in Ethosa, sleeping in a bed would be interesting, but for a reasonable price, we have only found the IGowati Lodge at khorixas, but it seems that there is not much to do at khorixas to spent tw nights there...

Annick, You say that The Spitzkoppe chalets are very basic, but do they have comfortable beds??? it might be enought.....

La Leona, I have to check the places you recomend...

mANY THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!!!
