We may have had the privilege to be doing business in the khwai area. But with recent closure of Moremi Game Reserve by DWNP, our office have made a deliberate decision to make open doors for any client or tourists who had booked to stay in Moremi to change their bookings to Khwai Safari Grounds which is adjacent to the Park, (Moremi Game Reserve)
I encourage you travelers to not cancel your bookings cos you'll begin to travel again with high numbers...

Dieser fb-Eintrag von Khwai Safari Grounds ist eine gut getarnte Werbeeinschaltung, fast ohne Nutzen für Betroffene von Moremi-Stornos. Hier die Antwort auf meine Rückfrage wie der Beitrag zu verstehen sei:

In der DriveBots-Gruppe wird von 2 Leopardenangeriffen in Xakanaxa berichtet.
Der 1. soll sich vor wenigen Tagen am Campingplatz, der 2. in der Nacht danach am Lodgegelände zugetragen haben.
Die Lodgegäste seien evakuiert worden, der betr. Leopard "entfernt".
Es gäbe zumindest Verletzte.

Good news from Xomae yesterday: Third Bridge Campsite & Tented Camp is open again! You can reach it using the Bodumatau dry road, through first and second bridge. Third Bridge is still broken. Keep being extremely cautious with the water everywhere in Moremi!

Ein kleiner Reminder an uns alle (ich denke, einige von uns, auch ich 😊 Zitat: Später machen wir noch einen Nachtspaziergang zu den Granatos und tauschen ein bisschen unsere Erlebnisse aus., sind schon auf der Xakanaxa Campsite relativ unbedacht zu Fuß unterwegs gewesen - und nicht nur auf dieser Campsite 😗 ). Die Frau, die dort angegriffen wurde, beschreibt in der DrivBots-Gruppe, wie es passiert ist. Auch wenn ich es weiterhin sonderbar finde, dass ein Leopard Menschen mehrfach hintereinander angreift und ich mir nicht vorstellen kann, dass er nicht krank war: Niemals nachts in solchen Gegenden zu Fuß unterwegs sein (und auch tagsüber muss man dort immer mit Elefanten rechnen)!

..... Back at our camp we got ready and then walked over to the other group with our camp chairs. Just before 10pm everybody was preparing to go to bed and we were offered a lift by one of the ladies back to our camp. We stupidly declined and started walking back. We each had a torch and the moon gave quite a lot of light . Approx 5 m from our tent the leopard attacked me from behind and knocked me to the ground.....

It seems there is another leopard attack at the same camp. It seem that they killed the wrong leopard past Sunday. It’s getting worrisome now that it’s getting this worse. We are told the DWNP team is there now,on the ground and all camps closed for safety of everyone. Will update if there is any development.

SARS zu den Grenzschließungen:

5 June 2021 – Skilpadshek port is closed and will reopen tomorrow at 6am.
5 June 2021 – Kopfontein port is closed and will reopen tomorrow at 6am.
5 June 2021 – Skilpadshek port will operate between 6:00 and 18:00 on the 5th & 6th of June due to unavailability of Port Health Officials. The port normally operates between 6:00 and 00:00 (midnight).

Warnung: Mäuseplage im CKGR

Es häufen sich Berichte, wonach das CKGR zZt von einer Mäuseplage heimgesucht wird.
Mehrere Fahrzeuge mussten bereits wg durchbissener Kabeln nach Maun geschleppt werden.
Abhilfe soll folgendes schaffen:
Nachts die Motorhaube geöffnet lassen; im Idealfall Motorraum beleuchten.
Das Fahrzeug nicht auf Gras oder in der Nähe eines Baumes parken.
Keine chemischen Abwehrmittel verwenden!!!... diese gelangen in die Nahrungskette.

MASS CAPTURE OF WILDEBEESTS IN KGATLENG
The Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources Conservation and Tourism wishes to inform the public that the Department of Wildlife and National Parks is currently involved in the capture and removal of wildebeests from Ramotlabaki area in Kgatleng district. The exercise is a management intervention aimed at reducing cattle mortality due to Bovine Malignant Catarrh. The wildebeest is a known reservoir host of the disease and transmit the disease to in-contact cattle during the calving season. The exercise started by undertaking aerial survey in the area to determine animal numbers and distribution. The target is to move approximately 200 -250 animals from the area by the end of June 2021. So far 82 animals have been moved to the Central Kalahari Game Reserve.

Hi guys, we are building a new mall in Letlhakane at the Engen and Nando's. Thinking of having a fresh water supply shop with a monitored filling point in the parking lot. So guys with water tanks in trailers don't have to cart from SA. A good idea ?
