Blaze engulfs shop in Keetmanshoop

Keetmanshoop Fire Fighters are battling a blaze in a shopping complex in the southern town barely seven hours after the capital city, Windhoek, was brought to a standstill by a fire at Seapride Foods that caused damage of millions of dollars.
The second major fire incident occurred at about 10:00 this morning as flames engulfed the premises of the popular Spar Shopping Centre in the sleepy southern town.
The Keetmanshoop Fire Brigade rushed to the scene to get the fire under control where hundreds of onlookers have gathered to watch the drama unfold.
The intensity of the fire caused the roof of the building to collapse after burning for about half an hour. The fire reportedly also spread to an adjacent building causing even more damage.
Members of the Namibian Police also rushed to the scene to control the crowd that assembled on the sidewalks across from the shop in the southern town.
At this stage it is not clear what the cause of the fire is.
