Danke Christian,ich habe auch schon e-mail und sms nach 2 campsites -lodges geschikt aber nog geine antwort.
Wier wolten irgendwo das Mahango Gr. besuchen und der Buffalo-park und auch eine boat-trip auf der fluss machen um Hippo's su seen(lebende) fals das Bwabwata np. gesloshen ist farhre ich nict weiter den Caprivi in aber nehme mich meer zeit richtung Koaka Striche.

Anke is now currently on leave and I checked this with my Manager and he agrees that it wont have any impact at all.
We've certainly not heard of any camps closing and the reality is there is nearly always some form of anthrax in our wildlife populations (certainly in Etosha it is nearly always present - with at least a hundred animals annually dying die of Anthrax in that park alone). It seems to me that this 'outbreak' is more noticeable and press worthy as it has killed large numbers of hippos. Although I don’t think the reason for those deaths has been confirmed as anthrax yet.

My advice would be not to change travel plans, as there is likely to be little or no impact to tourism activities (or safety) in the area.

Danke,nach des seen dieses video's -wir geen nicht nach dieser region! Ich denke es ist zu gefarhlich mit essen und wasser trinken und so weiter..; Schade...

Also mich würde das jetzt nicht abhalten.... bei uns dauert es allerdings noch ein paar Tage. Anthrax ist nicht neues und mit etwas Umsicht kein unlösbares Problem. aber das muss jeder für sich selbst abschätzen....

das ist seit mehr als 2 Wochen "confirmed". Ob man sich also auf die Aussage im Gesamten dann verlassen sollte?! 😉

MET to seek Defence Ministry's assistance with hippo carcass disposal BWABWATA, 27 OCT (NAMPA) – The Ministry of Environment and Tourism plans to ask the Ministry of Defence for assistance in disposing of the hippo carcasses at the Bwabwata National Park. Minister of Environment and Tourism Pohamba Shifeta told members of the media during a familiarisation trip to Bwabwata on Wednesday fresh carcasses are still being discovered after the anthrax outbreak early this month and they will try to get assistance from the Defence Ministry with the removal of these carcasses. So far, 131 hippo and eight buffalo carcasses have been destroyed and disposed of. “Fresh carcasses are still being discovered but not like before when we had mass mortality,” said Shifeta, adding that he is hopeful that there will not be more deaths in the coming weeks. The minister said they are struggling to reach the carcasses of some of the animals with the equipment they have, hence the decision to approach the Defence Ministry to provide helicopters to remove the carcasses from areas that are not accessible by foot or vehicle. “Once we get that, we will be able to reach the carcasses on the other side of the ponds and dispose of them,” said Shifeta. He also gave his assurance that visitors to the park are safe, saying the contaminated area is under strict control to ensure that it is not accessible to visitors. The north-western part of the park is also safe to visit since it was not contaminated and no deaths were recorded there.

nein, es geht nur um ein stark begrenztes Gebiet im Wahlkreis Mukwe in der Region Kavango-Ost am Okavango...fernab von Mudumu und Nkasa Rupara.

Hi Logi,

ich vermute mal, dass der Pressesprecher mal wieder einen ausgedehnten Urlaub macht.... und wahrscheinlich dann zurück kommt, wenn eh alle Behörden Anfang Dezember zu macht. Ich hatte letzte Woche Donnerstag nochmal nachgefragt und seinen Chef, den Minister, in CC gesetzt.

I personally visited the area and I saw the closed off section with clear no entry signs. I appeal therefore to those spreading this unfounded information to stop misleading the nation. The issue of the hippos was an important activity for the Ministry that needed to be undertaken without fail or compromise. The safety of our tourist, members of the public and their livestock was our number priority.
