Überquerung Limpopo bei Mapai mit Pontonfähre?

Hat jemand schon einmal die im Hupe-Reiseführer erwähnte Pontonfähre über den Limpopo benützt oder auch nur gesehen? Im April fahre ich ab dem Krüger über Giriyondo-Grenze in den Great Limpop Transfontier Park und möchte anschliessend wenn möglich nicht wieder Richtung Süden den Park verlassen sondern eben lieber Richtung Mapai.

Da ich kaum ein Wort portugiesisch kann, sind alle Infos vor der Reise willkommen 😉

Im April denke ich mal, wird es vermutlich riskant diese zu benutzen. Aber zur Not kannst Du ja Richtung Süden fahren und die Brücke benutzen.

Danke für die wertvollen Links. ich denke wir entscheiden dann kurzfristig vor Ort 🙂 aber reizen würde mich diese Flussquerung schon. Natürlich würde ich dann aktuelle Infos/Bilder posten.

Hi all, I am considering taking the Limpopo river crossing at Pafuri Border and travelling up the border / or following powerline road to the Sango/Chicualacuala border into Gonarezhou. Travelling at the end of August this year in a Toyota Fortuner and travelling alone. Has anyone done this trip recently to advise me on condition of road and approx time needed for this trip? I did the trip last week. The crossing was very easy and could be done on your own. I would however not travel alone in Africa. It took us about 5hours to drive the 60km including the 4 border crossings. It took us over an hour just to get into Zimbabwe and there were nobody else at the border. Everybody at all 4 posts were very friendly. It was just so slow! The roads are not in a good condition and you must give yourself enough traveling time.

We went up to Mutare as well and went past 20 + roadblocks. Everyone was very friendly and wish us a safe journey. On our return trip to Gonarezhou the last road block in Manica province we did experience 3 bad cops. They were looking for anything to give us a fine. They started with triangles, car documents, and the fire extinguisher. We were fined at the end of the day for not having a continuous red sticker and a weight sticker on our bakkies. Totally ridiculous. That won't stop me however to go back. It is really a nice country to visit and the locals really needs our money.
