The Zimbabwe Festival of Arts will take place in Berlin 3-5 June 2010.
Artists from Zimbabwe present and discuss their own creativity without political constraint. Through their art they express everyday thoughts and wishes of Zimbabweans and, most of all, the longing for freedom, justice, innovation and political critique.
There is no better way of challenging the dominant misperceptions concerning Zimbabwe, a country intimes of crisis. We will go beyond the poverty, the superficial media portrayals, and the upcoming World-Cup towards Zimbabwe as a dynamic artistic powerhouse.
The Festival is hosted by the Department of African Studies / Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and sponsored by the Federal Foreign Office of Germany with a decision of the German Bundestag.
