At around midday on Wednesday, residents of Oranjemund, Rosh Pinah and Lüderitz reported that soft but continuous rain has started falling and that the ambient temperature has fallen considerably.
In South Africa weather service has warned that the cold front will bring about severe cold and storm conditions with wind speeds that could reach up to 100 kilometres per hour.
According to the Namibia Meteorological services the cold rainy weather over large parts of the south will continue well into Thursday and warned that frost might occur over the central parts of Namibia.
“Near freezing temperatures are expected on Thursday in the south and over the Khomas and Omaheke regions. Frost is expected in places over the south and central regions
For the rest of the country sunny and hot conditions is in the forecast for the extreme northeast of Namibia while elsewhere in the country partly cloudy and cold to warm weather can be expected.
Residents along the coast can expect cloudy and cold weather conditions with more rain showers over parts in the south.
